10/6/26 Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Report — Central Basin out of Lorain
October 6, 2026
Heavy winds and seas have plagued the Central Basin again this week. Air temperatures have dropped to the mid-to-upper 60s for lows and the 70s for highs. The seasons have been all over the place, and the fishing has been too. Surface water temperature has dropped to 68 degrees.

Central Basin Lake Erie walleye have started moving closer to shore and farther west for the fall. Runs to the fishing grounds have been half the distance of the last month. That said, the fish have been up and down in the water column — one day they’re really high up, just under the surface, and we’re catching them on 40 Tru Trips with ripplin’ Redfins 40 feet back; the next day it’s back to the wire and the big deep Thundersticks. On the Dipsys, we can’t run the short Tru Trip leads due to tangles. It’s not a banger yet by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s coming. We’re catching limits closer to port, but it’s taking most of the charter.

The Sir Walleye is scheduled to come out of the water for this season on October 12, 2026, and will return to Lorain in the spring of 2027. Many of our clients are already scheduled for the 2027 season — we appreciate your loyalty and booking early. We do have some openings for new clients for 2027 and would love to have you. Give me a call to get on the schedule before the good dates are gone!
