Sir Walleye Charters does not offer catch and release or sorting of fish of any kind. Walleye brought up from depth on Lake Erie experience barotrauma and cannot survive release — so if it's a legal fish, it gets counted. We do this out of the utmost respect for Lake Erie.

How Do We Fish Walleyes on Lake Erie?

In April and May, Sir Walleye Charters on Lake Erie mostly trolls for walleye whenever conditions allow, and jigs for the spawning jacks (males) early in April. We also drift crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers as the fish transition through May.

When summer starts to warm up in June, you'll find our fishing charter trolling up to 20-rods with crankbaits, spoons, etc. The boat is equipped with 2 electric downriggers and a fish hawk system for speed and temperature at the lure. We will use this tactic all the way through September.
